This ambitious sustainable renovation transforms a traditional farmhouse through a high-performance eco-refurbishment and a carefully integrated Passivhaus extension. The existing building is upgraded to dramatically improve thermal efficiency, comfort, and energy performance, while the new extension is designed to rigorous Passivhaus standards, minimising heat loss, air leakage, and overall energy demand through passive design principles.

Inspired by the character of surrounding vernacular architecture, the extension complements the existing courtyard setting and enhances the property's rural identity. The design creates a generous, future-ready family home centred around light-filled, adaptable living spaces. An expanded kitchen and dining area forms the heart of the home, providing flexible accommodation that supports modern family living while maintaining a strong connection to the surrounding landscape.
