For over three decades, AB Architecture & Environment has been at the forefront of sustainable architecture, environmental design, and low-carbon innovation. Established in 1992, the practice was founded to combine architectural excellence with pioneering energy and sustainability consultancy, creating buildings that are both sensitive in design and environmentally responsible.

Led by Edinburgh-based architect Alastair Binnie, a recognised pioneer in energy-efficient and environmentally conscious design, the practice has built a reputation for delivering projects that place sustainability at the heart of the architectural process. Educated at the University of Plymouth School of Architecture and further trained at The Architectural Association School of Architecture, Alastair has dedicated his career to integrating low-carbon design principles into every project.

The practice's diverse portfolio includes zero-carbon residential properties in Scotland, community centres across the UK, residential barn conversions, All Souls College, Oxford University and Edgware Road Underground Station. Regardless of scale or complexity, every commission is guided by a commitment to intelligent design, environmental responsibility, and long-term value.​  At the core of Alastair's philosophy is a simple principle: creating a meaningful and sustainable synergy between people, place, and purpose.
