This landmark Bakerloo Line station refurbishment successfully integrated modern safety standards and infrastructure while preserving the building's distinctive Edwardian architectural character. Through a meticulous conservation-led approach, the historic station, underground platforms, and stairways were carefully restored to maintain their original heritage significance.

Custom-manufactured glazed tiles were recreated to precisely match the 1907 originals, seamlessly incorporating complex contemporary building services behind the historic fabric. Remarkably, several manufacturers of the station's original components were still operating, enabling authentic restoration and exceptional attention to detail.

The project stands as a benchmark for heritage conservation, historic building refurbishment, transport infrastructure renewal, and sensitive architectural restoration.
